Welcome to

St Peter’s, Walworth!

What’s St Peter’s like?

Services at St Peter’s are informal and formal, modern and traditional, with powerful music and moments of silence! We take worshipping God seriously, and try to use the best of different Christian traditions so that at the Parish Mass everyone can feel like we belong and have a place at St Peter’s. The best thing is just to come and see, any Sunday from 10.30am-12pm followed by refreshments in church to meet and great each other.

Our Mass booklet is really easy to follow and you can see an example here. It’s available in church printed on yellow paper and also via QR code/link so that you can follow on your device to help us save paper and resources.

Come and see for yourself. We look forward to meeting you, whoever you are! Whether you're single or coupled; whether you come on your own or you have wriggly children or little angels(!); whether you're gay, straight, trans, lesbian, bi, or any orientation; whether you're old or young, black or white, etc, etc, etc! Here, everyone's welcome! Everyone belongs at St Peter’s! St Peter’s is a passionately inclusive church where we believe that everyone is made in God’s image, and that all forms of discrimination against people for who they are, are not God’s will and must be broken down. Find out more about how our Christian faith drives us to be an inclusive church here.

St Peter’s is a church where Black Lives Matter and we are proud of the Diocese of Southwark’s Anti-Racism charter which you can find here, along with a photo of Bishop Christopher taking a knee with member of St Peter’s church family after the racist murder of Mr George Floyd. Our rector, Father Andrew, brought a motion about the awful racism the Windrush generation received in Church and society to the Church of England’s General Synod which you can read here, and Father Andrew preached for the Church of England’s national online service during covid lockdown for Windrush Day - you can watch here.

St Peter’s has strong friendships with other local faith communities: especially the Old Kent Road Mosque (Muslim Association of Nigeria) and Camberwell Islamic Centre, who we organise events with alongside St Philip’s Church, Avondale Square and St Christopher’s Church, Walworth.
